Ikiba Hanging Basket, Silver

Handmade by Burundian refugee artisans at the Mtendeli refugee camp in Tanzania, these beautiful baskets incorporate locally sourced materials to achieve modern designs rooted in traditional Burundian basketry.

The sisal and sweet grass are commonly used across Eastern Africa for basket making. The white strings are recycled from the sacks used by the World Food Program to deliver food supplies for refugees. Meticulously hand woven over a period of several days or weeks by an artisan woman, each basket carries the unique personal touch of its maker. We hope you love the simple elegance that adds a meaningful accent to your décor.
