This textured raw silk pillow is from a fair-trade artisan cooperative in Assam, India, woven by indigenous Bodo women weavers working on bamboo hand looms. Unlike in the production of most commercial silks, the silkworm cocoons used here are collected only after the moths have emerged, and therefore the silk is known as ahimsa, meaning "peace silk".
